Atlanta Community Food Bank
All volunteers under age 18 are classified as youth volunteers and must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Youth cannot be left unattended during the volunteer shift. Great opportunity to volunteer as a family.
DeKalb Community Service
DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB) is an innovative, community-based behavioral health and developmental disabilities services organization located in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia.
Multiple volunteer opportunities for students age 16+.
For our IDD population, the volunteer projects usually don’t require orientation or formal training. It may be for a specific project in the IDD area (hosting a party/event, landscaping, painting, cleaning, etc.). It would not be in the arena of direct care or support.
As an FYI/example, one local Boy Scout group often organize an Eagle Scout project at our Services Center in Brookhaven (landscaping front entrance, retiling back splash, building an elevated garden for use by those in wheelchairs, etc)
